Government ministries, local authorities, state enterprises and parastatals are among the largest buyers in Zimbabwe. Every purchase they make must follow the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act. For suppliers, that means a clear set of rules that can be learned and used to win business. For procurement officers, it means a legal duty to get every step right.
This course explains public procurement in Zimbabwe from both sides of the table. It is designed for suppliers and bid teams who want to win more tenders, procurement officers and members of procurement management units and evaluation committees, accounting officers, finance staff and auditors. The first lesson of each module covers the basics for anyone new to the subject.
What you will learn
- How the PPDPA Act, its regulations and PRAZ govern public procurement, and the principles behind them
- The procurement methods and when each one may be used, including the current RFQ thresholds
- How to register as a supplier, use the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, and prepare compliant bids
- How bids are evaluated, how awards are made and notified, and how to challenge a decision
- How public contracts are managed, varied, paid and closed, and how public assets are disposed of
How the course works
There are five modules, each with four lessons and a short quiz. You need 70% on each quiz to complete the course and earn your certificate.
Important
This course reflects the law and PRAZ guidance as at October 2026. Thresholds, fees and procedures change through regulations, PRAZ circulars and amendments (a PPDPA Amendment Bill was published in 2025). Always check the current bidding documents, regulations and PRAZ guidance. This course is training, not legal advice.
About figures in this course
Rates, thresholds, time limits and penalties are shown as examples of the law as at 2026, not fixed rules, and are expected to change. Lessons focus on principles and procedures, worked examples are labelled as 2026 figures for illustration, and the figures are collected in one Course reference table at the end of the final lesson. Always confirm the current position through official channels such as PRAZ, the latest regulations, circulars and standard bidding documents, the Government Gazette or a procurement professional.
