What the Productivity Profile measures
The Productivity Profile is a free productivity test for working professionals. In about ten minutes it shows how strong your work habits are, which habit to fix first, and how much meeting time you could win back. It looks at habits, not output: the habits that research links to job performance and wellbeing.
It is built on the STRIDE Work Habits Model: six habits, each anchored on published research.
| Letter | Habit | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| S | Structure | Keeping tasks in one trusted place, planning ahead and reviewing |
| T | Task completion | Finishing, breaking work into next steps, meeting deadlines |
| R | Recovery | Breaks, switching off after work, matching hard work to your energy |
| I | Importance first | Important work before merely urgent work, daily priorities, saying no |
| D | Deep focus | Interruptions, protected focus time, task-switching |
| E | Exchange load | Meetings, email and chat habits, and when people can reach you |
Each attempt draws a different set of questions from a bank of more than 120, covering the same parts of every habit, so results stay comparable. Read how the test works and the research behind it.
The nine work-habit profiles
- The Peak Performer — Your habits are working for you. Your job now is to protect them.
- The Overloaded — You're carrying too much with too little system. Small changes will pay off fast.
- The All-Rounder — Balanced habits with no big gaps. Gains come from lifting everything a notch.
- The Improviser — You make it work on the day. A little structure would remove the last-minute rush.
- The Starter — Full of energy for new things. Finishing is where your time leaks away.
- The Burst Worker — Bursts of strong work, then running on empty. Your energy needs managing, not just your time.
- The Firefighter — You're great in a crisis, but urgent work keeps pushing out the important.
- The Multitasker — Lots happening at once. Interruptions and switching are eating your best work.
- The Connector — Always available, always in the loop. Meetings and messages are taking your working day.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Productivity Profile?
A free self-assessment of your work habits, based on the STRIDE Work Habits Model: Structure, Task completion, Recovery, Importance first, Deep focus and Exchange load. It takes about ten minutes and shows your strongest habit, the one to fix first, and three changes to try this week.
Does it measure how much I produce?
No. It looks at habits that research links to job performance and wellbeing, not at your output. Because you answer about yourself, your result reflects how you describe your habits.
Is it a personality or psychological test?
No. It is not a psychological, clinical or personality test, and it is not designed for hiring, promotion or disciplinary decisions.
Why are the questions different each time?
Each attempt draws a different set from a bank of more than 120 questions. Every set covers the same parts of each habit, so results stay comparable, but the answers can't simply be passed around.
How many times can I take the test?
You can take it three times for free. After that there is a 7-day wait before your next free attempts. A test you don't finish within 24 hours is discarded and doesn't count.
How is "meeting time you could win back" worked out?
It is 30% of the weekly meeting hours you report, based on a survey in which people rated about a third of their meeting time as unproductive, multiplied by 46 working weeks a year. It is an estimate built on one stated assumption, not a measurement of your meetings.
What happens to my answers?
Your results are private to you. We use your email for your results, your attempts and any certificate, and we use anonymised answers (no name or email) to check and improve the test.
