Tax is one of the largest costs a Zimbabwean business carries, and non-compliance can easily double it: penalties of up to 100% of the tax, interest, blocked tax clearance, and lost contracts. Most of that is avoidable with a clear understanding of the rules and a disciplined compliance routine.

This course is for accountants, finance managers, business owners, bookkeepers and anyone responsible for a company’s tax affairs. The first lesson of each module covers the basics. The rest deals with the calculations, deadlines and judgement calls that cause real problems in practice.

What you will learn

  • How Zimbabwe’s tax system and ZIMRA’s TaRMS platform work, and which taxes apply to your business
  • How to compute corporate income tax and make Quarterly Payment Dates (QPDs) correctly
  • How VAT works at the 15.5% rate, including registration, fiscalisation and input tax rules
  • When to apply withholding taxes, IMTT and presumptive taxes
  • How to handle ZIMRA audits, objections, penalties and tax risk

How the course works

There are five modules, each with four lessons and a short quiz. You need 70% on each quiz to complete the course and earn your certificate.

A note on rates

Rates and thresholds in this course are those in force as at October 2026, including the changes from the 2026 national budget (for example VAT at 15.5% from 1 January 2026). Tax law changes every year, so confirm current rates with ZIMRA or your tax adviser. This course is training, not tax advice for a specific situation.

About figures in this course

Rates, thresholds, time limits and penalties are shown as examples of the law as at 2026, not fixed rules, and are expected to change. Lessons focus on principles and procedures, worked examples are labelled as 2026 figures for illustration, and the figures are collected in one Course reference table at the end of the final lesson. Always confirm the current position through official channels such as ZIMRA, the latest Finance Act and Government Gazette, or a registered tax practitioner.
